Chiropractic care is essential when restoring proper motion into the spine. Spinal joints often become immobile and restricted, making it difficult to achieve many of our daily movements properly, often leading to injury and pain. Chiropractic care and spinal manipulation is an effective way to restore proper spinal motion, and eliminate pain. As medicine advances, new corrective methods are safer, comfortable, and more effective.
Ideally, all of the therapy and rehabilitation services I provide are preventative treatments, however, this isn’t an ideal world. Injuries cannot always be prevented. The initial focus of our physical therapy is repairing damaged tissue that’s causing pain. Second, focus on WHY you were injured rather than HOW. This allows our therapy to be long lasting, and preventative of reoccurring injury. The final phase adapts your tissues to new stresses, making you stronger and more functional.
Although you may not be coming into our office for a specific injury, there are likely a few “red flags” that may be predictive of future dysfunction. Along with chiropractic care, corrective exercise techniques are effective in helping restore proper joint movement. Patients are given unique exercises to help strengthen and correct problems unique to them. Exercises will be performed in the clinic under supervision until technique is mastered, at which point patients will then be able to utilize these exercises at home continuing their improvement.
Acupuncture is an effective tool for eliminating pain, as it stimulates the body’s ability to heal. You might be wondering how a few small needles can restore health. By stimulating specific points, nerve conduction increases, blood vessels dilate increasing local blood flow, pain signals decrease, and healing takes place. Myofascial trigger points, hypertonic bands of muscle often found in those with neck and low back pain, are effectively treated with acupuncture as well.
Along with my education in chiropractic care, I furthered my education as a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS), corrective exercise specialist (CES), and performance enhancement specialist (PES). Afferent Influence is a bit unconventional compared to most chiropractic offices in the sense that we also have a fitness facility at our location. Physical therapy, injury rehabilitation, and exercise all go hand-in- hand. It’s important that our patients have the ability to not only recover from injury but improve performance. If simply getting in shape is most important to you, we offer personal training services as well. No corporate gym policy, no long term contracts, just goal oriented programs tailored to your specific needs. If an open gym format is more of what you’re looking for, no problem. Patients are afforded the option of a monthly membership to use the facility at their leisure if desired.
We provide specific recommendations on nutritional supplements, macronutrients (fat, carbohydrates, and protein), and micronutrients (vitamins/minerals) to help return you to optimal health. Do you know which supplement companies are reputable? The proper caloric intake for your health goals? A structured nutritional program can be built based on your individual needs.
